Samsung Note 5 N920C Update to Android 7.0 Nougat

The Android 7.0 Nougat update has been released for the Galaxy Note 5 in Turkey, starting with the SM-N920C variant. Other variants will soon follow. Owners of the N920C variant can update their phones regardless of their region. Users in Turkey can check for the update through settings > about device > software updates. If the OTA update is not available, a manual update is also possible. Details of the new features and changes are provided before installation.

The Android 7.0 Nougat update for the Galaxy Note 5 brings a refreshed lock-screen and UI for notifications, as well as a renovated notification panel and revamped status bar icons and toggle icons. In addition, new icons for applications and a redesigned settings application are included in this update, along with improved battery performance and enhancements to various applications’ user interfaces. Overall, this update offers significant UI changes and improved performance for the Note 5.

To manually install this firmware update, you can utilize Samsung’s flashtool called Odin. The firmware can be downloaded regardless of country or region, as long as your phone’s model number is N920C. The official firmware linked below is untouched and safe to flash, with no risk of damaging your device or voiding the warranty. However, if your device was previously rooted, installing the new firmware will result in losing root access. Follow the steps to install the official Android 7.0 Nougat update on your Samsung Galaxy Note 5 SM-N920C.

Preliminary arrangements

  • Ensure that your device matches the model number mentioned above. Check your device information by going to Settings > More/General > About Device or Settings > About Device and confirming the model number. Flashing a file on a device not listed here can lead to bricking the device, for which we cannot be held responsible.
  • Make sure your device’s battery is sufficiently charged. If your device powers off during the flashing process, it may become soft brick and require flashing stock firmware, resulting in data loss.
  • Use the original data cable to connect your Android device to your computer/laptop. Ordinary data cables may cause interruptions during the flashing process, so it’s important to meet this requirement to avoid any issues.
  • Remember to back up all your data before proceeding with the flashing process.
  • Ensure that Samsung Kies is turned off when using Odin3 flashtool, as it may interfere with the flashing process and lead to errors, preventing the successful installation of the desired firmware. Additionally, disable any antivirus software and firewall on your computer to prevent connection and flashing issues.
  • Make sure to back up all your data.
