OxygenOS Update: Install OxygenOS 4.1.0 on OnePlus 3/3T

OnePlus has been running internal tests on the OxygenOS built on Android 7.1.1 Nougat for an extended period. Breaking their silence just recently, OnePlus officially released the firmware update for the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T. As anticipated, this latest update introduces a plethora of new features to enhance the user experience on both these devices. The rollout of the Android 7.1.1 Nougat update initially commenced through Over-The-Air (OTA) channels. Additionally, the OTA zip files have been made available for manual flashing, enabling users to update their phones manually. Before delving into the installation instructions, let’s explore the exciting new features included in this update.

OnePlus has elevated the Android version on its devices from 7.0 Nougat to the more advanced 7.1.1 Nougat in the recent update, which also incorporates the latest security patch of March 1, 2017. Noteworthy enhancements in this update include the addition of the expanded screenshots feature, camera improvements such as moving object photography enhancements, as well as enhanced WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity. Furthermore, numerous bugs that were previously addressed have been further optimized, resulting in a firmware that is notably more stable, battery efficient, and smoother overall.

To streamline the update process, users can conveniently access the latest firmware by navigating to their phone’s settings and checking for Over-The-Air (OTA) updates in the software update section. These complete Over-The-Air (OTA) files require your phone to be running stock firmware before updating. Avoid flashing these files over a modified firmware.

For OnePlus 3: OnePlus3OxygenOS 4.1.10_1703132116_f7372e67.zip

  • Rename the downloaded file to oneplus3_OTA.zip

For OnePlus 3T: OnePlus 3T OxygenOS 4.1.0 Android 7.1.1 Nougat Firmware

  • Rename the downloaded file to oneplus3T_OTA.zip
  1. Before proceeding, ensure to back up all of your data. It is vital to follow the instructions meticulously. Charge your phone adequately to prevent any disruptions, and use the original data cable throughout the entire process.
  2. Download and install the Android ADB and Fastboot drivers on your computer.
  3. After installing the ADB drivers, you will find a Minimal ADB and Fastboot folder on your Windows installation drive, typically located at C:\Program Files (x86)\Minimal ADB and Fastboot. Additionally, you will find the Minimal ADB and Fastboot.exe files on your desktop.
  4. Move the OnePlus 3 Android 7.1.1 or OnePlus 3T Android 7.1.1 Nougat firmware.zip file to the Minimal ADB and Fastboot folder.
  5. Enter recovery mode on your OnePlus 3/3T and connect it to your PC by turning off the device completely.
  6. And then pressing.
  7. And holding the Volume Down + Home Key to access the OnePlus 3/3T stock recovery.
  8. Once your phone boots into stock recovery, select the “Install from USB” mode.
  • Connect your phone to the computer.
  • From the Minimal ADB and Fastboot folder, launch the MAF32.exe file or locate the Minimal ADB and Fastboot.exe file on your desktop and run it.
  • A command window will now open.
  • In the command window, input the following commands:
    • For OnePlus 3: adb sideload oneplus3_OTA.zip
    • For OnePlus 3T: adb sideload oneplus3t_OTA.zip

Alternative Approach: Installing Android 7.1.1 Nougat on OnePlus 3/3T via TWRP Recovery

  1. Download and install TWRP recovery on OnePlus 3.
  2. Download and install TWRP recovery on OnePlus 3T.
  3. Proceed to follow the steps outlined in this guide to flash the firmware.

This firmware is an official release and has not been altered in any way. Once installed on your OnePlus smartphone, you will still be able to receive Over-the-Air updates.
