Samsung Galaxy S8 Launch: Expected On April 21st

Samsung is under scrutiny as they prepare to introduce their latest S-series flagship later this month. Following the Galaxy Note 7 incident, the tech giant’s first flagship reveal will be the Galaxy S8, demonstrating Samsung’s adept handling of the previous issue. Renowned analyst Ming-Chi Kuo from KGI Securities has forecasted a release date of April 21st for the Galaxy S8, offering valuable insights to investors beyond his usual focus on Apple products.

Samsung Galaxy S8 Launch: Expected On April 21st – Overview

Initially, the Galaxy S8 was slated for a global debut on April 21st. However, recent reports from South Korea have suggested a one-week delay, pushing the smartphone’s release to April 28th. The delay was attributed, in part, to a low yield of the 10nm chipset utilized.

Ming-Chi Kuo revealed additional details about the upcoming Galaxy S8 models. Samsung traditionally unveils two versions of its S-series flagship, this time presenting the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+. The leaked spec sheets for these models have already provided insights into their features, with Kuo’s information aligning with existing knowledge. The Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ will sport 5.8-inch and 6.2-inch, 2960 x 2400 WQHD + OLED displays, respectively.

Both models will showcase a 12MP primary dual-pixel camera and an 8MP front-facing camera. The Galaxy S8 will be equipped with a 3000mAh battery, while the Galaxy S8+ will house a robust 3500mAh battery. Variants destined for China, Japan, and the United States will be powered by the Snapdragon 835 SoC, while the global versions will feature the Exynos 8895 chipset. Despite offering 4GB of RAM in most markets, the Chinese and South Korean models will boast 6GB of RAM to remain competitive.

Kuo’s predictions also touch on Samsung’s strategy to enhance consumer choices by expanding the color options for the Galaxy S8 models. The anticipated color range includes Matte Black, Bright Black, Silver, Gold, Orchid, Blue, and Pink variations, including a Black variant that has been showcased in various leaked images. Additionally, the Galaxy S8 is projected to achieve sales of 40-45 million units, a figure slightly below the Galaxy S7’s 52 million units sold last year. However, considering the absence of the Galaxy Note 7 from the lineup, customers inevitably gravitated towards the Galaxy S7 or alternative smartphone options.

As these details represent mere predictions at present, the actual color selections and internal specifications of the Galaxy S8 series will be unveiled on the official launch day, rapidly approaching.
