Samsung Galaxy S3 Phone Mini to Marshmallow Update with LineageOS 6.0.1. Back in previous year, Samsung experienced a substantial breakthrough with the launch of the Galaxy S3, prompting the introduction of a new series of compact devices. The series commenced with the Galaxy S3 Mini, followed by subsequent releases of the Galaxy S4 Mini, and concluded with the S5 Mini. The Galaxy S3 Mini featured a 4.0-inch Super AMOLED display, powered by the STE U8420 Dual Core 1000 MHz CPU paired with a Mali-400MP GPU and 1 GB of RAM. The device offered 16 GB of internal storage and initially ran on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, receiving its only update to Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean.
Despite the limited software support, the Galaxy S3 Mini remains functional today, with custom ROM developers ensuring its continued operability. The device has undergone software upgrades to Android versions including 4.4.4 KitKat, 5.0.2 Lollipop, and 5.1.1 Lollipop, with the latest being the availability of Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow. Following the demise of CyanogenMod, users sought a reliable Marshmallow-based ROM, with LineageOS, its successor, now offering support for the Galaxy S3 Mini.
LineageOS 13, built on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow, currently offers a stable build for the Galaxy S3 Mini that can serve as your daily driver without significant issues. Key functionalities such as WiFi, Bluetooth, calls, text messages, packet data, sound, GPS, USB OTG, and FM Radio operate seamlessly, though video playback may encounter occasional hiccups. Some features like screencasting and the screenshot function within TWRP 3.0.2.0 recovery present minor challenges, which are unlikely to significantly impact regular use. Transitioning your aging Galaxy S3 Mini to a robust Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow ROM can breathe new life into the device.
The step-by-step instructions for installing the Marshmallow ROM on your Galaxy S3 Mini are straightforward and user-friendly. It is crucial to back up all data, especially the EFS, before flashing the ROM. Adhering closely to the installation guidelines is essential to ensure a smooth and successful process without encountering any installation hitches.
