This news is sourced from the Korean publication, The Bell. The report indicates that Apple’s new supplier, Interflex, is in the process of building a new production plant specifically for creating flexible printed circuit boards (PCBs).

FPCBs are used to connect chips to components like displays and cameras. Apple plans to source the components for its upcoming OLED iPhone from three Korean suppliers, which include the Samsung division, Interflex, and BH.

Last year, Apple plans to sell approximately 60 million OLED devices, representing about 40% of their new iPhone sales. The transition to OLED technology is expected to continue, with the company aiming to fully shift to OLED displays this year.

Apple has significant plans for the iPhone 8, also known as the iPhone X, anticipating high consumer demand for the premium anniversary edition. The device is set to be feature-rich, with a redesigned appearance that includes slim bezels and the elimination of the home button, similar to Samsung’s Galaxy S8. The iPhone 8 will boast a curved OLED display, as well as advanced features like on-screen embedded fingerprint scanning or facial recognition technology, along with wireless charging. With these enhancements, Apple plans to justify the higher price tag of up to $1000 for the device.
