Pixel 2 XL: Finally, after a prolonged period of news, rumors, speculations, and hints, the Google Pixel and Pixel XL were officially unveiled by Sundar Pichai, Google’s CEO, at the company’s event today. The new Google smartphones were made in collaboration with HTC, with HTC serving as the phone’s manufacturer stamp, but otherwise, it’s all Google.
Upon examining the specifications of these phones, it is safe to say that there are no surprises. This is not to say that the phone’s specifications are not impressive, but rather that most of the specifications rumored before the release have turned out to be accurate. Official renders of the smartphone were even released a few hours before the official launch, leaving little to the imagination.
Let us explore and discover the features and benefits of the two new phones from Google and HTC.
New Pixel phones:
In addition, the Pixel and Pixel XL feature a brand new design with a polished aluminum build, glass covering, and beautifully curved bezel for ease of holding. Moreover, the camera is seamlessly integrated into the phone’s body without any protrusions.
The Pixel’s Imprint, named by Google, is located in the middle of the smartphone’s back. This new scanner not only unlocks your phone but also offers additional functionality. For example, swiping down over Pixel Imprint accesses the notification bar, increasing usability and convenience.
Furthermore, it’s worth mentioning that these smartphones are equipped with Qualcomm’s newest Snapdragon 821 CPU, which elevates their status to the prestigious group of Snapdragon 821-powered phones. Additionally, the camera on these smartphones boasts a new smartburst mode, and Google Assistant is now available through the Pixels. It’s important to note that Google has made the phones water-resistant, as they are IP53 certified. Lastly, both phones come in three stunning colors: black, silver, and blue. The colors truly look amazing.
With the release of the Pixel lineup, Google has also unveiled the Android 7.1 Nougat. We expect the Android 7.1 Nougat to bring some new features and a handful of performance and stability fixes. Let’s have a look at the specifications of these two smartphones now.
