Android 7 Nougat on Galaxy S5 – CM14

Android 7 Nougat on Galaxy S5 – CM14 – Samsung Galaxy S5 cannot support Android versions beyond Marshmallow due to hardware limitations. However, custom ROM developers are working hard to provide the latest Android versions. CyanogenMod 14 released an unofficial ROM that runs on Android Nougat, proving there are options for Galaxy S5 users to upgrade their OS.

CyanogenMod, an alternative version of the Android OS, is an aftermarket distribution designed to provide a new lease of life for phones that have been abandoned by their manufacturers. The latest version of the custom operating system, CyanogenMod 14, is based on Android 7.0 Nougat and aims to enhance the user experience. However, as it is an unofficial build, there may be certain bugs and glitches that have yet to be resolved. Users must possess sufficient knowledge of the advantages and disadvantages associated with flashing custom ROMs and are well-equipped to handle any issues that may arise. In the following tutorial, we will explore the steps required to install Android 7.0 Nougat on Galaxy S5 G900F using the unofficial CyanogenMod 14 custom ROM.

Android 7 Nougat

Preventative steps for installing Android 7 Nougat

  1. Use this ROM only on Galaxy S5 G900F and not on any other device, or it may become permanently damaged (bricked). Check your device’s model number under the “Settings” menu.
  2. To prevent any power-related problems while flashing, make sure your phone is charged to at least 50%.
  3. Install a custom recovery on your Galaxy S5 G900F through flashing.
  4. Create a backup of all your data, including essential contacts, call logs, and text messages.
  5. Ensure to generate a Nandroid backup as it’s essential to revert to your previous system in any unforeseen situation.
  6. Backup EFS partition to avoid EFS corruption later on.
  7. It is important to strictly adhere to the given instructions.

Custom ROM flashing voids the device’s warranty and is not officially recommended. By choosing to do this, you assume all risks and hold Samsung, and the device manufacturers not responsible for any mishap.
