Discover the simplest way to upgrade your At&t Galaxy S7 or Galaxy S7 Edge to the official Android 7.0 Nougat version.
Samsung released the Nougat update for the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge last month, albeit later than expected. Following its initial rollout, Samsung continued to expand the update to various regions. Both At&t and Verizon carriers promptly followed suit, providing updates via OTAs to their users. If you own an At&t Galaxy S7 or S7 Edge, you are among the fortunate recipients who can manually update to Android 7.0 Nougat now. This manual update is particularly beneficial for users who have not received the latest update through the usual device software update menu.
The update is provided in the form of several OTA files. If your phone is running an older Android version, you will need to install multiple OTA files sequentially to upgrade to the latest stable Android Nougat build. The process is straightforward, but it’s crucial to meticulously follow the instructions to prevent any installation mishaps. Each update must be installed in the specified sequence.
Preparatory Steps
- This update is specifically designed for the Galaxy S7 models SM-G930A and Galaxy S7 Edge models SM-G935A. It is crucial not to attempt this on any other device.
- Ensure to back up all data, including text messages, contacts, call logs, and media files.
- Your device should currently be operating on the official PK1 firmware version. Verify that the download menu does not display “custom.” The following instructions will outline the process of flashing the PK1 firmware on your device prior to installing the latest OTA update.
- Activate OEM Unlocking on your At&t Galaxy S7/S7 Edge
